CHOOSING A CONNECTICUT HEAT PUMP CONTRACTOR

Energize CT Heat Pump Installer Network: a homeowner’s guide

Looking for an installer who can help you qualify for a heat pump rebate? Start with the official Energize CT directory, then compare the proposed equipment, installation work, and paperwork—not just the rebate advertised.

Directory and program requirements checked September 28, 2026

This independent guide is sponsored by veteran-owned wtech22 Heating and Cooling. It is not the official Energize CT directory or a utility website. An estimate request connects you with wtech22, not every contractor in the network.

What is the Heat Pump Installer Network (HPIN)?

HPIN is Energize CT’s network of participating heat pump contractors. Its enrollment requirements include relevant licenses, insurance, and installation training. Participation is one part of rebate eligibility; it does not mean every proposed system or project qualifies.

How to find and verify an Energize CT installer

  1. Open the official directory. Choose Residential and Heat Pump Installation, then use your ZIP code to narrow the results.
  2. Search the business name in Included Keywords. Check that the listing and proposal refer to the same company and the services you need.
  3. Ask for current license and insurance information, references for comparable work, and confirmation that the contractor serves your address.
  4. Compare more than one written quote with the same scope. A directory listing is a starting point, not a substitute for reviewing the contract.

Verify our sponsor: WTech 22 Heating And Cooling

On September 28, 2026, the official directory returned WTech 22 Heating And Cooling in Trumbull for heat pump installation, with ducted and ductless air-source specialties and English/Spanish service. To check the current entry, open the directory and search “wtech22”.

The directory links to the contractor’s main website, wtech22.com. CT Upgrade + Rebate Finder is its separate homeowner education and rebate-planning website.

Six things to put in your heat pump quote

Sizing and winter operation

Ask for the home’s heating-load calculation and the proposed system’s cold-weather capacity. Discuss which rooms it will serve and whether backup heat will remain.

Exact equipment pairing

Request outdoor and indoor model numbers, the AHRI reference, and the applicable qualified-product listing. A brand name or nominal “3-ton” label alone does not settle eligibility.

Ductwork and electrical work

List duct changes, return-air work, panel or circuit needs, condensate routing, permits, and who pays for each item. Identify exclusions before comparing totals.

Existing heat and controls

Document whether oil, gas, propane, or electric resistance heat will be removed, disabled, or retained. Ask which controls and documents the chosen rebate path requires.

Price and incentive assumptions

Separate the installed price from conditional incentives. Show any distributor discount already included so it is not deducted twice. Ask what you owe if an incentive is not approved.

Startup and follow-through

Ask who handles commissioning, homeowner instruction, warranty registration, rebate submission, and inspection requests. Keep the final invoice and equipment records.

Does an HPIN installer guarantee my rebate?

No. The residential Energy Optimization program requires a participating installer, but utility service, equipment, existing heating, controls, and project documentation also matter. The program administrator makes the final decision.

Is pre-verification required before installation?

Energize CT describes online rebate pre-verification as optional for the rebate itself and required for the Smart-E special heat pump loan offer. Check separate verification requirements for electric-resistance replacement before work starts.
